How competitive is Australia’s funds management industry?

The funds management sector plays an important role in securing better outcomes for Australian investors, including retirees, through its role in maximising returns for Australia’s $2.5 trillion (as at March 2021) managed funds sector.

Deloitte Access Economics (Deloitte) was asked by ASIC to undertake research examining competition in the funds management sector, in the context of the outcomes that the industry is delivering for investors in retail managed investment products.

Report 702 Competition in funds management, released in late September, presents Deloitte’s findings from the review, such as;
