James Bond is the Chief Economist at the Financial Services Council and President of the Australian Services Roundtable.

James leads the Financial Services Council’s agenda on trade liberalisation, fiscal policy, ageing population, tax reform, population growth, and labour force participation. James also worked as Senior Policy Manager responsible for Superannuation in his first 18 months at the Financial Services Council.

Prior to joining the Financial Services Council, James was Government Relations Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers Australia, senior economic advisor to former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and an economist in Macroeconomic Group at Australia’s Department of Treasury. 

James has been a Director on the Board of the Australian Services Roundtable since 2010. The Australian Services Roundtable advocates for the whole of the services sector in Australia. James is also an executive member of the Australian Business Coalition for Tax Reform.

James is a regular contributor to Australian media, including opinion pieces in broadsheet papers and trade press and appearances on Sky Business.

James has a Bachelor of Economics with honours and a Masters of Public Policy from the Australian National University.

CIO Index

The Financial Services Council Chief Investment Officer Investment Index is based on a survey of Chief Investment Officers from a sample of Financial Services Council members. It is designed to gauge their response to a range of questions about the investment environment predominantly over the next 12 months but also considering longer investment timeframes.

Bond Report on Superannuation Fund Flows

The Bond report provides analysis of the latest trends in superannuation fund flows based on Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) quarterly data. The Bond report is released on the same day as the APRA data.
