Trustee Board Committee

Mandate

This Committee has responsibility for developing the Financial Services Council's strategies and policies in relation to Trustee Companies and Public Trustees.

The Committee's objectives are to:

  • promote sound governance practices in the traditional trustee services sector;

  • advocate for appropriate legal, regulatory and tax regimes that support the efficient and effective delivery of high quality trustee services to Australians;

  • facilitate an open and competitive national market for trustee services;

  • ensure that an adequate training programme in the Personal Trustee field is available to members; and

  • support the collection and maintenance of appropriate industry data.

The Committee also has oversight of the Financial Services Council's relationship with relevant regulators and government departments that have responsibility for and/or an impact on Licensed Trustee Companies and Public Trustees, including: The Australian Securities and Investment Commission, State/Territory Attorney General Departments, the Australian Taxation Office and the Department of Treasury.
